Rosie Live!

I just happened to tivo the Rosie Live show tonight because I’ve been so excited for it ever since they started showing the commercials! (Yes, I am a big dork.) I miss her daytime talk show she used to have. The variety show seemed like it would be a good fit and avenue for her considering her strengths and passions. Anyway, I have to say I was really disappointed by it. I couldn’t get into it, no matter how much I wanted to. Nothing was really that funny; it all seemed so rehearsed and fake and forced. The Conan visit and Rachael Ray’s two second appearance made me perk up a little. Alanis Morissette’s performance was the highlight for me. She looks great! Her new look suits her well.

Taylor Swift

Can I just say, I really enjoy Taylor Swift and think she is adorable and sassy? In my humble opinion, her songs flow and are fairly simple, but very catchy and relatable. We’ve all been young teenagers in love, right? Or angry heartbroken teenagers as well. I caught her on Ellen last week, promoting her new album, ‘Fearless’. She always makes me laugh during interviews, she really is a breath of fresh air with how…blunt she is about certain things. When she went into detail about how the one Jonas brother broke up with her; 25 seconds over the phone, I thought Ellen was going to die! Her attitude is great how she isn’t afraid to call people out. I honestly don’t remember which Jonas brother it was because I don’t really pay attention to them that much. It was priceless that Ellen didn’t know that they had ended their relationship though! I’m really liking her new album.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

Last weekend in cold, windy, rainy Chicago after spending all day apartment hunting, my boyfriend and I opted to have a relaxing evening at the movies. We decided to go see Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa for some much needed comic relief. I wasn’t expecting anything particularly special, just really needed some laughs at this point in our stressful weekend. It served it’s purpose for what I wanted out of my movie going experience. The movie had some good, humorous moments and had a great message for kids. Just don’t go into it expecting to laugh for the entire length of the movie.

Jodi Picoult; Keeping Faith

I recently finished the Jodi Picoult book ‘Keeping Faith’. I really liked it a lot. This is the second book of hers I have read. ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ was the first and was so amazing, I can’t even put it into words. Anyway, sometimes I can have the tendency to hesitate reading more books by the same author, for fear of not enjoying it as much as the first. So I broke down and decided to give ‘Keeping Faith’ a try. I love how no matter what Picoult is talking about, she presents all possible sides of a story, but doesn’t try to sway you one way or another. She clearly does research for whatever subject matter she dives into in her books. ‘Keeping Faith’ is about a seven year old of a broken marriage. When she sees her dad with another woman in their house, she starts experiencing all sorts of outrageous symptoms. It is a great read!

Say Yes to the Dress

Every once in awhile I catch the show ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ on TLC. It is one of those bridal shows that has the potential for some major drama especially when coupled with the high pressure from the saleswomen. It all takes places at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York, a famous bridal salon. Some of the brides are incredibly high maintenance, so it is always a guilty pleasure of mine to watch the sometimes outrageous demands. Once in awhile you get an extremely sweet and touching story that makes up for the drama filled, shallow ones. It’s entertaining to me to watch when the grooms, brothers, and or fathers come along to put their two cents in.

Take a little time to enjoy The View

I’ve been watching ‘The View’ since it first started. I don’t watch every day but I do remember the days when Lisa Ling was on there. I go through phases where I watch a ton, and then don’t watch at all for months at a time. Most of this has to do with my schedule at the time and also how busy I am. I really enjoyed Meredith Viera when she was on the show. Rosie was so great and such a fiesty contributer, in my humble opinion. Lately Elizabeth is getting more and more on my nerves. I don’t know. Some episodes I really love it, but others just irritate me when they are all trying to talk over each other and get their own opinions and ideas heard without even bothering to listen to what anyone else has to say. I think that is a big reason behind why Elizabeth bothers me so much. I still watch the show occasionally if I am home, but I don’t bother to Tivo it like I used to. I have to say, Whoopi has been a nice addition though, but I do miss the Rosie days.
